The MBP Bike School features some of Australia’s leading trainers, who can help you learn everything from the absolute basics, through to world-level descending skills.

 

We recommend all new riders to the park undertake our Bike Park Intro (beginner), or Bike Park 101 (intermediate) lesson, which is a perfect way to begin enjoying our incredible trails.

 

We offer a number of group lesson types, as well as private individual and group lessons.

    This is a 4-week skills camp, focused all the different styles of terrain Maydena Bike Park. The camp will tour the kids around the park, safely teaching them how to navigate gravity terrain. Kids will learn fundamental cornering, jumping and technical skills. The 4-week program gives them plenty of time to practice and absorb the information. As well as make some friends and get to know the other kids in the group. These camps are all about progressing while having fun in a safe and positive environment.

    Bike Park Intro is a lesson targeted at beginner riders, with very little mountain bike and/or bike park experience. The lesson utilises the lower zone of the bike park, featuring gently climbing and descending trails. Your instructor will guide you around the park and teach you the fundamental skills of mountain biking, leaving you confident and comfortable to explore the park for the rest of the day. This lesson is ideal for families and visitors who have not visited a gravity bike park before.

    The perfect introduction to riding our park, Bike Park 101 will provide you with the confidence and fundamental skills required to enjoy our gravity trails safely. Bike Park 101 is suitable for intermediate riders who are looking to transfer their current mountain bike skills to the gravity terrain that our bike park offers. Whether you are looking to start riding some of our jump trails or hoping to tackle some of our steeper, more technical terrain, Bike Park 101 will have you feeling confident on our extensive trail network.

    Jumping and pumping are fundamental skills required to enjoy our park, yet these skills are foreign to many mountain bike riders.

    Our Learn to Fly lesson provides riders with the fundamental skills and confidence required to enjoy our jump trails safely.

    The Bike Park Pro course is designed to help strong intermediate-advanced riders take their bike park riding skills to the next level. The course will cover all the skills required to make you confident on all of Maydena’s steep terrain, jumps, drops, and berms. This course is a must if you want to go bigger and ride faster!

    Teach the Teacher is a two-day lesson specifically designed to provide sports and outdoor education teachers with the fundamental skills and lesson plans to teach and guide school-age mountain bike groups. The lesson includes a wide range of technical and safety information and lessons and includes a number of lesson plans and procedures. This is THE lesson teachers need to teach their student's mountain biking in a safe and supportive environment!

  • LEVEL 1 - Intro to mountain bike trail building

    Dates- September 15th-16th, 2018

    Learn the fundamental of trail building from some of the best in the business, at one of the world’s hottest new bike parks. The course will run over two days, including both trail design and trail construction sessions.

    Day one will focus on trail design fundamentals, including both the ‘art’ of strategic network planning, and the technical aspects of good trail design. This session will be run by Dirt Art Managing Director, Simon French, who has a combined trail design experience of over 3,000km. The session will include a practical trail design session, where participants will work through trail design exercises in the stunning Maydena Rainforest.

    Day two will focus on trail construction, beginning with a classroom session exploring the fundamentals of quality trail construction. This session will be run by several members of the Dirt Art senior construction team, who have a combined trail construction experience of nearly 1,000km of trails.

    Participants will have 2 hours of uplift each afternoon included in their course so they can get outdoors and enjoy the trails of Maydena Bike Park!

  • LEVEL 2 - Mechanised Trail Construction

    Cost- $1,199

    Prerequisites- Excavator operator ticket and/or minimum 100 hours excavator experience
    Dates- September 22nd-24th, 2018

    This is the first course of its kind in Australia, offering specialist excavator training for mountain bike trail building. The course is designed for participants who have a minimum of 100 hours general excavation experience.

    Day One of the course begins with a theory session, covering the advanced fundamental of mountain bike trail construction. The afternoon session for the day will be an on-bike tour of the parks extensive trail network, exploring the various different construction methodologies used.

    Day Two begins with a theory session, explaining basic and advanced specialist excavator operation, safety principles and procedures. The afternoon session for the day will be an excavation demonstration from Dirt Art’s trail crews.

    Day Three and Four will see participants break into small groups advanced sessions in excavator operation. Groups will rotate between trails experiencing a wide range of construction conditions. Participants will have 2 hours of uplift each afternoon included in their course so they can get outdoors and enjoy the trails of Maydena Bike Park!
